Dallas, Texas will be a host city for a Healing Field

During the National Exchange Club's 86th annual convention, a unique Healing Field of 1,400 American Flags will commemorate victims of child abuse in the past year. These are America's children, this is America's responsibility, said Swenson.

A sea of fourteen hundred red, white and blue American flags will wave on the lawn of the south side of City Hall in downtown Dallas to represent the 1,400 children who died last year in the United States at the hands of an abuser.

Fourteen of these children were from Dallas County. An additional 25 flags will bear the Blue Ribbon symbol for child abuse; representing the 25 years Exchange Clubs across America have fought to end this abuse.

The Child Abuse Healing Field will fly from the afternoon of Tuesday, July 13, through Saturday, July 17. It is open to the public and visitors are encouraged to walk through this awe-inspiring display and reflect on the young lives lost to this preventable tragedy.

A dedication ceremony will begin on Tuesday, July 13, at the site. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to set-up the full-size flags. Each of the 1,425 flags used in the display will be available to sponsor and take home for $25. All proceeds from the sponsorship of the flags will be donated to the Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Center in Dallas.

Volunteers will be marking the field with a grid of white dots starting Monday morning, July 12. A semi truck displaying a full-color, life-size mural of the Healing Field will arrive in Dallas at City Hall on Tuesday, July, 13. This is a spectacular visual event and more details are to follow. Healing Field is part of a national program sweeping across the country with over 30 registered Healing Fields as of the date of this release.

This is a patriotic event, said Swenson, a spiritual event for the volunteers who help set it up and for everyone who comes to experience it for themselves.
